Over 600 employees are
the key reason for Ivaco Rolling Mills' continued success. They are skilled, hard working
and dependable and their goal is to supply customers with the highest quality products at
competitive prices. Our company attributes much of its success to having a passionate
workforce that cares about its reputation. Many employees have been with Ivaco Rolling Mills since the very beginning and have greatly contributed to the companys growth throughout the years. Stability and a sense of pride and tradition are the strengths behind Ivacos work force. Long term employees build strong relationships with their colleagues resulting in a solid team spirit. Employee Development Employee development has always been a priority for IRM. In the mid 80s, the Company renewed its technology to keep ahead of the competition. An extensive training program was conducted with the assistance of a German company which used the same casting and melting process. Each technical improvement requires full training of employees. IRM believes that investing in training programs improves the performance of its workforce by providing a newly acquired knowledge; technical problems can be handled more quickly and efficiently by highly skilled employees. Training is seen as a continuous process essential to higher quality and customer service. Health and Safety Safety is the first item on Ivaco Rolling Mills mission statement. Early safety audits produced a safety program that has been in effect for several years. Working jointly with the Health and Safety Committee, an executive safety group was formed to help steer the recommendations and implement safety procedures throughout the company. There are full-time employees, both union and non-union members, ensuring the continuous improvement of IRMs safety performance. Because of strong employee involvement, the records of severity rate of accidents have shown constant decrease. "At IRM, we believe that tasks performed correctly are performed
safely." Emergency Response Team As an added safety feature, in 1995, Ivaco Rolling Mills formed an intervention team in case of an emergency. These employees are trained in different first aid techniques such as CPR, confined space and high angle rescue, rope work, air monitoring and fire suppression. Simulations are organized on a regular basis in different locations of the plant to allow team members to practice their techniques and become familiar with the plant layout. Ivacos Emergency Response Team is the only rescue team in the region to be fully trained in confined space and high angle rescue. The team covers all four shift operations of the plant. Opportunities IRM provides a safe working environment to all its employees, competitive wages and a full benefits program. Job opportunities may exist in a range of specialized professional and trade skills
such as: engineer, millwright, crane operator, laborer, etc. Ivaco Rolling Mills |
