Ivaco Rolling Mills is looking for an Automation Technician to join the Steel Plant Team!

Reporting to the Automation Engineer Lead, the Automation Technician plan, develop and commission new automation systems. To assist in the troubleshooting and maintenance of automation: software, PLCs, hardware, Level 2 process control systems, as they arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain good working order of critical plant servers in conjunction with IT support.
  • Technical support for various automation equipment such as: PLCs, scale indicators, sensors, meters.
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of supervisory and S.C.A.D.A/HMI systems, of recipe systems, tracking systems, data collection systems.
  • Integration of new automation equipment and systems into current production environment. This includes PLCs, PLC code, supervisory and S.C.A.D.A/HMI systems, interfacing with database systems.
  • To directly support the plant as required during normal operations and planned shutdowns.
  • Document existing and new automation systems.
  • Keep up to date on all critical automation systems in order to diagnose system failures.
  • Program, implement and maintain automation systems with various languages, ensure the integrity, accuracy of data and reports for productions, QA and other departments.
  • Keep current on new computer technology and production processes and apply it to improve existing systems.
  • Work with users & System administrators during installation phase and provide training as required.
  • Train employees such as electricians on automation systems ( PLCs, sensors, other automation devices)
  • Review software and hardware problems with operators and other users and provide ongoing technical assistance regarding automation systems.
  • MATERIALS EQUIPMENT: Plant Servers and computers; PLC’s and other automation equipment and instruments; computer diagnostics, hardware and communication devices; calibrating and repairing tools; software such as C++, C#, Java, Wonderware, Cimplicity, PHP, Control expert, Machine edition, Step 7 Simatic.

Ivaco Rolling Mills is looking for an Electrical maintenance Engineer to join the Team!

Electrical maintenance Engineer must provide electrical engineering services to the Steel Plant to meet safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and service objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To the production and maintenance department, provides engineering assistance (concepts, design, feasibility studies, preventive engineering, etc.).
  • Reviews procedures to operate or maintain plant equipment, reviews safety procedures for equipment failures and repairs.
  • Reviews practices and equipment performance, recommends changes to the process and equipment.
  • For engineering projects: carries studies and defines scope of the project, designs, defines materials and equipment specifications, prepares estimates and budgets, coordinates construction and directs contractors and tradespersons, prepares operating and start up procedures, trains operating and maintenance personnel.
  • Approves design of new equipment and modification of existing practices, ensures adherence to government codes and regulations.
  • In coordination with the Senior Draftsperson, ensures updating of mechanical drawings.
  • Performs engineering studies and conducts non-routine tests to trouble-shoot faulty equipment or to resolve technical problems.
  • Observes all safety rules.
  • Ensures safe work practices and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance to Company regulations and policies.

Ivaco Rolling Mills is looking for CERTIFIED: Industrial or Construction & Maintenance Electricians to join our maintenance departments.

Applicants should have a good working knowledge of electronics, PLCs, troubleshooting, be familiar with power distribution, high voltage and be able to work as part of a team as well as independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive instructions, drawings, diagrams, and work orders. Interprets drawings or diagrams and plan the details for the work procedure. Select tools required.
  • Knowledgeable on the proper isolation of circuits. Plan and perform work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles and codes, wire specification, the properties of various materials and the operation and application of equipment.
  • Locate sources of trouble of any type of electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation (troubleshooting).
  • Dismantle and assemble, inspect, repair, adjust, or replace faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution and control panel circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, etc.
  • Perform work on “hot” lines as required.
  • Replace coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, etc.
  • Adjust contactors, relays, etc. Reconnect terminal leads, panel boards and distribution feeders.
  • In emergencies, make temporary or permanent repairs to minimize interruption of production.
  • Install conduits, wires, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures. Connect and adjust all types of electrical equipment as required for new or replacement installations. Make all required splices and connector joints.
  • Perform rigging in connection with servicing of electrical equipment.
  • Perform work with a minimum of direction.
  • Arrange for the handling of materials and equipment to perform job.
  • Use CMMS system.
  • Work on high voltage equipment.
  • Verifie radiation alarms with the appropriate equipment.

Ivaco Rolling Mills is looking for Certified: Industrial Mechanic Millwrights with 3 to 5 years experiences, to join our maintenance department.

Applicants should have a good working knowledge of hydraulics, gas and pneumatic equipment, CMMS, welding and burning equipment, and be able to work as part of a team as well as independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives instructions covering scheduled and emergency repairs. Installs and inspects work to be done. Reads drawings and precision measuring tools. Performs work with a minimum of direction.
  • Inspects mill equipment for defects such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc. Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production. Advises on the condition of the plant’s equipment.
  • Dismantles, cleans, adjusts, repairs, aligns, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles and lubricates mechanical equipment. Makes either temporary or permanent repairs. Operates maintenance shop tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all plant hydraulic, water, lubrication and air or gas systems and their associated equipment. Determines the cause of failure and decides on the best method and materials to expedite proper economical repairs to restore equipment operation.
  • Works with repair crew as directed on an emergency basis. Erects scaffolds and performs crane hooking/rigging as required.
  • Does minor welding, burning and pipefitting jobs as required.
  • Receives instructions, drawings, and work order for jobs. Interprets drawings, plans the details for the working procedure and selects tools and materials required.
  • Uses CMMS system.
  • Arranges for the handling of materials and equipment to perform job.
  • Works with other trades, as required, on jobs required to maintain mill production.
  • Provides feedback to lead hand and/or foreman about job status.
  • Keeps Immediate working area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Observes all safety rules.

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Assistant to join our team. Under the guidance of the Metallurgical Technologists, the successful candidate, will be responsible for ensuring that products meet consistent standards throughout their development. The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and must be adaptive and flexible to meet the job expectations. Experience in a Rod Mill process or Met Lab experience is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of the Metallurgical Technologists:

  • Obtain basic job-related knowledge and skills, for example: metallography, steelmaking, metallurgy, etc.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving wire rod for release to customers based on evaluation of own test results, tests from other QA departments and other production data.
  • Maintain coil inventory, coordinate priorities with ISR, production (WO), rod inspection and shipping.
  • Print, verify, and issue Mill Test Certificates (MTC’s) and maintain files.
  • Enter all heat chemistries for external billet suppliers.
  • Maintain and issue standard practices, both external and internal.
  • Verify customer specifications; enter inspection and sampling requirements and maintain latest revision.
  • Enter and maintain trials.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical graduate in metallography or bachelor’s degree in science or equivalent
  • Computer skills, such as knowledge of Excel, Word, access database, and One Drive
  • Knowledge of Rod Mill process or Met lab experience will be an asset
  • Bilingual FRENCH & ENGLISH: oral and written
