RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures safe work practices and procedures.
  • Responsible for the application and formulation of the Company’s Health and Safety program and ensuring all employees have an opportunity to learn elements of the safety program.
  • Performs safety audit.
  • Ensures that all employees are trained on job requirements before permanent assignment.
  • Searches for new material to update training for all employees.
  • Ensures implementation of Company training programs and development of department’s personnel.
  • Informs subordinators of performance expectations.
  • Monitors and evaluates performance and coaches as necessary.
  • Interviews, reviews qualifications, selects and recommends employment candidates.
  • Ensures compliance to Company regulations and policies. Ensures the usage of corrective measures/discipline on violations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Observe all safety rules.
  • Determines the repairs required, using reports and schedules, determines work schedules, plans shutdown and repairs.
  • Reports and investigates all accidents with an aim to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Conducts monthly safety meetings and makes safety observations.
  • Ensures that each employee is trained in their job. Complete training checklists as soon as train- ing is completed.
  • Informs employees of expectations.
  • Assigns tasks, communicates work schedule and deadlines, set, and defines priority, reports on delays. Initiates preventive/corrective actions to meet deadlines.
  • In coordination with his supervisor attempts to settle concerns/interpretation disputes at his own level and applies provisions of the Collective agreements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives instructions, drawings, diagrams, and work orders for jobs. Interprets drawings or diagrams and plans the details for the working procedure. Selects tools required.
  • Knowledgeable on the proper isolation of circuits. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles and codes, wire specification, the properties of various materials, the operation and application of equipment.
  • Locates sources of trouble of any type of electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation (troubleshooting).
  • Dismantles and assembles, inspects, repairs, adjusts, or replaces faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution and control panels circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, etc.
  • Performs work on “hot” lines as required.
  • Replaces coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, etc.
  • Adjusts contactors, relays, etc. Reconnects terminal leads, panel boards and distribution feeders.
  • In emergencies makes temporary or permanent repairs to minimize interruption of production.
  • Installs conduits, wires, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures. Connects and adjusts all types of electrical equipment as required for new or replacement installations. Makes all required splices and connector joints.
  • Performs rigging in connection with servicing electrical equipment.
  • Performs work with a minimum of direction.
  • Arranges for the handling of materials and equipment to perform job.
  • Uses CMMS system.
  • Works on high voltage equipment.
  • Verifies radiation alarms with the appropriate equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 to 5 years experiences
  • Red Seal interprovincial certification *required
  • Experience on the following equipment: AC/DC motors, AC/DC drives, PLC’s and distributed I/O’s *an asset (GE PLC, ALLEN BRADLEY PLC, SIEMENS PLC)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives instructions covering scheduled and emergency repairs. Installs and inspects work to be done. Reads drawings and precision measuring tools. Performs work with a minimum of direction.
  • Inspects mill equipment for defects such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc. Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production. Advises on the condition of the plant’s equipment.
  • Dismantles, cleans, adjusts, repairs, aligns, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles and lubricates mechanical equipment. Makes either temporary or permanent repairs. Operates maintenance shop tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all plant hydraulic, water, lubrication and air or gas systems and their associated equipment. Determines the cause of failure and decides on the best method and materials to expedite proper economical repairs to restore equipment operation.
  • Works with repair crew as directed on an emergency basis. Erects scaffolds and performs crane hooking/rigging as required.
  • Does minor welding, burning and pipefitting jobs as required.
  • Receives instructions, drawings, and work order for jobs. Interprets drawings, plans the details for the working procedure and selects tools and materials required.
  • Uses CMMS system.
  • Arranges for the handling of materials and equipment to perform job.
  • Works with other trades, as required, on jobs required to maintain mill production.
  • Provides feedback to lead hand and/or foreman about job status.
  • Keeps Immediate working area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Observes all safety rules.

DESCRIPTION

  • Ensure adequate, technically based Equipment Maintenance Programs (EMP) are in place for all assigned equipment
  • Monitor and track the reliability performance of assigned asset equipment to achieve business plan delay rates and manufacturing targets
  • Utilizes appropriate failure analysis techniques to determine root causes of equipment failures and initiates necessary corrective action to eliminate/reduce such failures
  • Provide guidance around Maintenance strategies and reliability decisions for critical existing equipment and new equipment installations
  • Work closely with Engineering support groups – Manufacturing Technology Equipment Engineering, Central Engineering and Project Managers to ensure the reliability and maintainability of assigned equipment is being suitably addressed

Monitor / Analyze / Troubleshoot Equipment Performance

  • Conduct regular analysis of equipment failure / delay performance to assess the adequacy of the Equipment Maintenance Program (EMP)
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis of failures
  • Identify gaps in the EMP adequacy and initiate tactics to close those gaps
  • Provides guidance and expertise re: equipment limitations, capability, and potential opportunities to other functional groups
  • Provides troubleshooting for deficiencies in a local area or for a specific equipment type

Manage Equipment Risk

  • Ensure adequate, technically based Equipment Maintenance Programs are in place
  • Utilizes appropriate failure analysis techniques to determine root causes of equipment failures and initiates necessary corrective action to eliminate/reduce such failures

Equipment Maintenance Program

  • Develop asset maintenance strategies for critical equipment with minimal assistance from others
  • Ensure technically based Equipment Maintenance Programs are in place and that they are effective to achieve the required equipment reliability goals
  • Lead maintenance resources through the Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) process as a risk mitigation tool around Maintenance programs
  • Ensure all Equipment Maintenance Programs contain adequate requirements, standards, and procedures for equipment inspections, and predictive technologies
  • Ensure all equipment maintenance records are up to date and are available for audits
  • Participate in maintenance audits

Work Management

  • Collaborate with Asset Trade Specialists around work ID, ensuring all required Equipment Maintenance Program related work is properly captured in the work management system
  • Partner with Asset Trades Specialist resources in prioritization of work for equipment outages, the establishment of maintenance shops; sets priorities to ensure timely, efficient repair/replacement of equipment
  • Determine establishment and assignment of preventive maintenance procedures for the proper care of equipment

Equipment Improvement / Upgrades

  • Perform maintenance and reliability studies and / or Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) for existing and proposed replacement equipment
  • Works closely with Technical, Maintenance and Operations personnel to ensure that drawings are updated in keeping with equipment modifications
  • Provide input into equipment redesigns to ensure reliability is incorporated into all equipment modifications or new installations
  • Works with equipment suppliers and outside engineering to specify design requirements for new / modified equipment to improve operating performance and / or equipment reliability
  • Participate in benchmarking analysis activities, create gap analysis assessment reports and tactics to close gaps, and implementation of the associated tactics

Asset R&M Spending

  • Perform R&M cost analysis on equipment to identify opportunities to reduce and optimize costs
  • Assist the Asset Maintenance Coach with the preparation of budgets and R&M spending reports
  • Act as a reference for ATS resources on the functionality of the various R&M spending monitoring tools, dashboards, Power BI, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS ET EXIGENCES

  • College Technologist Diploma or University Engineering Degree in a Mechanical, Materials or Electrical discipline.
  • 5 years of maintenance and reliability-based experience **preferred
  • Prior experience with cranes, conveying equipment or industrial rotating equipment **preferred
  • Certified Maintenance Management Professional designation **an asset
  • Bilingual: English and French (oral and written) **preferred
  • Criminal background check **required

  • Predominately a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to dust, chemicals, temperature changes and noise
